李才恒, 讲席教授。研究领域包括代数组合数学和置换群论。1997年毕业于西澳大利亚大学，获数学博士学位。1998年国际组合数学及其应用协会Kirkman奖章。曾任澳大利亚国家伊莉莎白二世研究员(QE II Fellow)，美国Ohio州立大学终身教职，北京大学讲席教授，和西澳大利亚大学Winthrop教授。现为南方科技大学讲席教授。

他在置换群论和代数图论方向做出了开创性的贡献，先后解决了多个世界著名的重要问题，包括关于包含交换正则子群的本原置换群的100年老的Burnside问题。最近的研究成果包括：

(1). 在有限单群的因子分解问题方面取得突破性进展，特别地，对一个因子可解的情况解决了这个问题，一篇长100页的文章在Memoirs of Amer. Math. Soc. 上发表。作为一个应用，分类了包含幂零正则子群的本原置换群

(2). 在有向弧传递图方面取得突破性进展，特别地，解决了著名数学家Praeger提出的30年悬而未决的点本原有向2-弧传递图的存在性问题。

(3). 在对称地图方面取得了大的突破。对弧对称和边对称地图做了系统性研究，取得了重要进展，特别地，分类了自同构群为几乎单群的点本原图的弧传递地图。
